Tens Of Thousands Of Workers Take To The Street In Jakarta
Jakarta, April 10(ANTARA) - Tens of thousands of workers took to the street in Jakarta on Wednesday demanding revision of a presidential regulation on health security dues.
The workers, grouped in the Council of Indonesian Laborers (MPBI) from various areas in Greater Jakarta converged on the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle.
From the traffic circle the workers marched to the office of the chief minister for public welfare to convey their demand.
President of the Confederation of Indonesian Labor Unions (KSPI) Said Iqball said here on Wednesday around 15,000 workers took part in the demonstration.
Long march will continue to the office of the health ministry and the labor ministry until afternoon, Iqbal said.
Similar demonstrations are also launched by workers in various other big cities in the country, he said.
Meanwhile, around 1,000 workers of state companies - electricity company PLN, telecommunication operator PT Telkom (Persero), and oil and gas company PT Pertamina plan to launch protest demanding outsourcing system of employment.
