Thai Authorities Confiscate 'Ice', Arrest Three People

By Tuwaedaniya Meringing PATTANI, June 30 (Bernama) -- Thai authorities confiscated 250 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine or ‘ice’, believed to be destined for smuggling to a neighbouring country. Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) chief, Lt. Gen. Chinnapat Sarasin, said authorities conducting examinations at a roadblock at Chana District of Songkhla found that the ‘ice’ was stored in 12 sacks on a lorry on June 26. He said police arrested the lorry driver who claimed he was paid to deliver the drugs from Pathum Thani District in the northern part of Bangkok to Southern Thailand. “An interrogation of the suspect led to the arrest of two more suspects on June 27. “The authorities also impounded several vehicles including a lorry, pickup truck, and motorcycle, as well as jewellery worth 100 million baht. Police also confiscated a pistol,” said Sarasin. The three suspects have past drug-related criminal records. -- BERNAMA
