Thai National Gets The Gallows For Cocaine Trafficking

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- The High Court on Thursday sentenced a Thai national single mother to death after she was found guilty of two counts of trafficking cocaine here, three years ago. Judge Su Geok Yiam handed down the sentence on Chaloemlak Nakkoed, 32, a caddy at a golf club in Kittinakon, Thailand. Chaloemlak was in possession of 454 grammes of cocaine in capsule form during a raid at the Citin Hotel, Jalan Pudu, at 8.05 pm on Sept 7, 2009. The following day police found an additional 31 capsules of the same drug weighing 204 grammes in her stomach when she was taken for an x-ray at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital. According to the facts of the case, Chaloemlak had entered Malaysia through the Kuala Lumpur International Airport via Brazil and Dubai. DPP Mohd Hafiz Mohd Yusoff prosecuted and Chaloemlak was represented by lawyer T.Chakaravarthi. -- BERNAMA
