Thai orphans to compete in intl football event in Poland
BANGKOK, July 11 (TNA) – A team of orphan footballers representing Thailand will take part in the 5th Football World Cup of Children from Care Homes, scheduled in Poland between July 15 and 16.
Since Thailand was invited by the organizer, Hope for Mundial association, to participate in this year’s event, the Department of Children and Youth under the supervision of the Social Development and Human Security Ministry selected nine skilled orphans aged under 17 years old under its DCY Football Academy initiative to join the football team.
The DCY Football Academy was designed to provide an opportunity for children and youths living in the department’s orphanage facilities across the country to improve their football skills and become professional football players in the future.
Before flying to Poland, department’s director-general Vitat Tachaboon on Tuesday led the nine Thai representatives to meet Adul Saengsingkaew, minister of the Social Development and Human Security.
During their visit, Adul gave them moral support and “Samart” jackets to honor them as Thai representatives taking part in the international football competition. (TNA)
