Thai PM calls for G20-G77 collaboration for global growth
HANGZHOU, CHINA, September 5 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has expressed his support for a reform agenda of the Group of 20 (G20), comprising 20 world potential economies, and called for cooperation and collaboration between the G20 and the Group of 77 (G77), comprising 77 world developing countries, in which Thailand is the current chair.
Government Deputy Spokesman Major General Werachon Sukhondhapatipak told journalists that the prime minister made the remarks on Monday while delivering a keynote speech on "strengthening policy coordination and breaking a new path for growth at the 11th G20 Summit, held in Hangzhou of China's southeastern Zhejiang Province during September 4-5.
While presenting his vision, the deputy spokesman said, the Thai premier first thanked the Chinese government for inviting Thailand to join the G20 Summit 2016 with a focus on the development agenda, reflecting China's constructive role on connecting the G20 and the G77 groups and being in line with the Thai government's policy.
Besides, the Thai prime minister called on more cooperation from all parties to collectively get through a global economic slowdown and challenges in several dimensions currently.
The deputy spokesman quoted the Thai prime minister as stating that such the global cooperation would become a new "vehicle of the 21st Century" to drive the world economy forward toward the "New Path of Growth", in which world-level cross-boundary partnership would be created without any limited form of cooperation.
According to the deputy spokesman, the Thai prime minister then stressed on his support for the reform agenda of the G20 group with a focus on stronger, sustianable and balanced growth, and urged the G20 group to lead the "vehicle of the 21st Century" toward the goal without leaving any economy behind by utilising its established experiences and resources.
