SEOUL, March 26 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has praised South Korean women for fighting to protect their rights. During her ongoing official visit to South Korea from March 24-27, Yingluck on Monday morning went to the 126-year-old famous Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul, where most of leading South Korean females, namely ministers and MPs, have graduated. The female Thai premier said that Thai women are playing similar roles, as they have to fight for their rights and status to be respected, and that the Thai Constitution guarantees equality between men and women and the Thai government has worked out a national plan for female development and raised a fund to promote Thai women’s roles and to empower them and their families, under which over five million Thai women have become members just over the past month. According to the Thai prime minister, her administration has invited the United Nations Development Fund for Women to advise the board of the Women’s Development Fund of Thailand to share its useful experiences and recommendations.
