Thai PM welcomes Obama's re-election
BANGKOK, November 7 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra welcomes the result of the US presidential election on November 6, in which incumbent President Barrack Obama was re-elected for his second four-year term.
Premier Yingluck on Wednesday congratulated the re-elected US President, affirming the Thai government's readiness to carry on policies jointly worked out with the United States.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said that the outcome of this year's US presidential election should neither affect Thailand's foreign policies, nor the country's foreign policies towards the United States, citing long-time relations and friendship between Bangkok and Washington.
The deputy premier acknowledged that Thailand has kept on the middle-path when implementing foreign policies, and that Washington is foreseen to pay attention to the Asian region as usual after the US presidential election, or to even pay more attention to the region. (TNA)
