Thai teenage golfer meets PM
BANGKOK, July 26 (TNA) -- Thai teenage golfer who is the yongest winner ever of pro tournament Atthaya Thatikul gets a premier advice from Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, “never lose focus on education.
Amateur Atthaya was victorious at the Ladies European Thailand Championship earlier this month at the age of 14, breaking the record of youngest player to win the
Ladies European Tour previously held by Lydia Ko at 15 years, nine months and 17 days.
Atthaya made a visit to Prime Minister’s office on Tuesday as guest of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
Prime Minister Prayut praised the teenager for her excellence in golf and urged her to manage her schedule in order to maintain good academic performance.
Atthaya beat Ana Menendez of Mexico by two strokes in the 300,000-euro Thailand Championship at the Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club in Chon Buri on July 8.
At 14 years, four months and 19 days, Atthaya has become the youngest winner of a ladies professional golf tournament. (END)
