Thailand to celebrate 100th anniversary of Thai National Flag

BANGKOK, Sept 7 (TNA) -- Thailand is to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Thai National Flag Day on September 28, when the kingdom adopted the tricolor in the reign of King Vajiravudh. Deputy Prime Minister Wisanu Krue-ngam gave a lecture on the history of the national flag since the adaptation in 1917 during a meeting of a committee responsible for organizing activities the 100 years anniversary of Thai National Flag Day. He said the nation would celebrate the national pride and remembrance of His Majesty King Vajiravudh or King Rama VI conferred tricolor flag as the Thai National Flag. The King bestowed the flag to the people as a symbol of unity for all Thais, he said. The tricolor flag of red stands for the land and people, white for religions and blue for the monarchy. Both public and private sectors are organizing activities to celebrate national flag this month. (TNA)
