Thailand provides troops with job training in Japan
BANGKOK, May 28 (TNA) – Thailand’s Ministry of Labour launched a pilot project offering free skill training programs in Japan to soldiers who are going to be discharged from the service.
Waranon Pitiwan, director-general of the Department of Employment, said the memorandum of understanding on the overseas job training project was signed by the
Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Defence on Oct 13, 2016 with an aim of promoting employment among military members.
The job training in Japan is offered under partnership with the International Manpower Development Organization (IM Japan). Selected military officers will have a
chance of flying to Japan and directly undergoing skill training with Japanese employers for one to three years.
Mr Waranon said the training is free, and participants will get paid in compliance with the Japanese law. Also, they will receive a certificate, and more importantly, they are expected to be fully job ready after completing the program.
The director-general added that besides Japan, the Department is planning to send military personnel to South Korea through the Employment Permit System, which
is a cooperative agreement between the two countries. (TNA)
