Thailand, Russia jointly launch stamps to mark 120th anniversary of ties

BANGKOK, July 6 (TNA) – The Russian embassy in Bangkok and Thailand Post launch commemorative stamps to mark the 120th anniversary of Thai-Russian relations. The stamps deplict the picture of King Rama V and Russian Emperor Nicolas II taken at the Peterhof Palace during the Thai king’s visit to Europe in 1897. The king’s visit to Russia began the bilateral relations. Russian ambassador Kirill Barsky and Thai Minister of Digital Economy and Society Pichet Durongkaveroj signed their name on the stamps of their country and exchanged them as a symbolic act of longstanding friendship. Mr Barsky said Thailand and Russia had developed good ties for a long time and had comprehensive cooperation at all levels. The commemorative stamps recorded the history of bilateral relations for the acknowledgment of Thai and Russian people, he said. The special stamps were available in both countries from July 3. A Thai stamp is priced at 3 baht each and a Russian stamp costs 22 rubles or about 12.50 baht. (TNA)
