Thailand Shopping & Dining Paradise

BANGKOK, June 19 (TNA) -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) organizes the Thailand Shopping & Dining Paradise festival to encourage foreign tourists to taste good foods and shop in Thailand. The festival is expected to generate a national income of 5 billion baht. TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn opened the festival for which AirAsia offers 50% discounts on its tickets from Vietnam, Hong Kong and Singapore to attract people from the countries to visit Thailand in the low tourist season (green season). The festival is aimed at promoting Thailand as an excellent destination for shopping. It targets visitors from Vietnam, Hong Kong and Singapore as people in the countries are young, have purchasing power and like Thai products. The TAT expects the festival to draw at least 100,000 visitors who should spend about 5 billion baht. The TAT also organizes the Top Shopper event in which famous bloggers from the three countries will compete in experiencing a wide range of Thai shopping centers including leading shopping complexes like Siam Paragon and Central Embassy as well as Or Tor Kor and Sampeng markets. The winning blogger will receive a cash prize of 100,000 baht and free AirAsia flights for one year. (TNA)
