Thais warned to keep away from volcanic area on Bali Island
JAKARTA, September 26 (TNA) - The Thai Embassy to Indonesia has warned Thai nationals to refrain from travelling to Bali at the moment, if not necessary, after there have been warning signs since last Friday of a possible eruption of the Agung Volcano, located in the northern part of the Indonesian tourist resort island.
The warning statement, posted on the official Facebook page of Thai Embassy in Jakarta, also suggests that Thai travellers regularly follow up the updated situation on the Bali Island.
The warning statement said the Indonesian government has maintained its "level 4 warning", which is the vigilant step, at the Mount Agung and its 12-kilometer-radius, as there will be a need to close the Ngurah Rai on the Bali Island with the inevitable suspension of all its inbound and outbound flights in case there is any eruption of the Agung Volcano.
According to the official statement, Thai people in Indonesia can contact the Thai Honorary Consul in Denpasar on the Bali Island around the clock at Tel. +62 812 3825542
and Tel. +62 811 186253 in case of any emergency. (TNA)
