Thousand Of House Inundated In Bandung

Bandung, W Java, April 1 (Antara) - Thousands of houses in Dayeuhkolot and Baleendah, Bandung District, West Java, are inundated on Monday following incessant rain over the last twenty four hours. "We have received reports from Dayeuhkolot. There are around 3,903 houses inundated in the area," Spokesperson of Disaster Response Agency (Tagana) of Bandung Dadang Wahidin said here Monday. Incessant rain since Sunday afternoon had caused several regions such as Cieunteung, Andir, Kampung Jambatan, Bojongasih and Leuwibandung inundated as deep as 60cm until 1.4 meter, Wahidin said. "The water level had risen following torrential rain and overflowing Citarum River, however it is now receding," Wahidin said. Meanwhile, Head of Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Bandung Marlan said water had inundated road access of Banjaran-Dayeuhkolot-Bandung resulting traffic congestion on Terusan Buahbatu-Bojongsoan road. Marlan said some regions in Baleendah which were severely affected by the floods were among other Cigasol, Muara, Cibadak, and Ciputat. Flood as deep as two meters was reported to hit Cieunteung Village. Thousands of residents are displaced and taking refuge to some area such as Sports Arena and refugee camps established by the BPBD team and volunteers.
