Toddler Survives Python Attack

MELBOURNE, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- A two-year-old boy has survived a python attack near his home in Port Douglas, Queensland. The boy's mother was sitting on the porch when her youngest son moved off to chase after a ball at about 7.45 pm on Monday. "Then I heard this blood-curdling scream," she told the "Cairns Post". She discovered the python curled around the boy. "The snake was biting his leg and was wrapped around his whole body, to his chest. It started constricting," she said. After neighbours helped free the toddler, he was taken to Mossman Hospital and then Cairns Base Hospital, where he was treated for four bite wounds. He was released on Tuesday night, after doctors determined that it was a non-venomous snake responsible for the attack. -- BERNAMA
