Tourism and Sports Ministry to rewards Thai number one woman golfer
BANGKOK, June 12 (TNA) – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports will rewards top woman’s golfer, Ariya Jutanugarn, who officially took number one LPGA spot today.
Pongpanu Svetarundra, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Tourism and Sports congratulated Ariya or "May" on having six LPGA victories.
Ariya won the Manulife LPGA Classic on Sunday, guaranteeing her ascent to the world number one ranking.
The permanent secretary said Thailand has now more number one athlete in the world ranking following the success of former world number one badminton player, Ratchanok Intanon.
The permanent secretary said Ariya will be proposed to be the national professional athlete, who gains reputation for the country.
He said she was mainly supported by her parents, who sold their asset to cover the cost for her travel to compete in the world events.
When she returns to Thailand, she was scheduled to meet Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha and the ministry will give her cash rawards from the National Sports Development Fund.
The ministry will look into the tax issue to eliminate double taxation by a credit method for her foreign income, so it will be not be a burden for her and her family. (TNA)
