Turkey will never accept Greek Cypriot representation of whole Cyprus, says Parliament Speaker Cicek

ANKARA (A.A) - Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek said Thursday that Turkey would never accept Greek Cypriot representation of whole Cyprus during the Greek Cypriot term presidency in the European Union (EU). Cemil Cicek met with his Turkish Cypriot counterpart Hasan Bozer in Ankara on Thursday. Speaking to reporters while meeting Bozer, Cicek emphasized that Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) had brotherly relations. I hope that the year 2012 will be one in which permanent peace gets established. You and we worked very hard so that there would be permanent peace in Cyprus. At times, we made sacrifices. However, it is not possible to reach a result unilaterally. Turkey will always be with its brothers and sisters so that Turkish Cypriots continue to exist on the island, Cicek stressed. Reminding that a draft law on providing potable water to the TRNC was adopted at the Turkish Parliament on Wednesday, Cicek said that such a law would contribute to the economy of the TRNC. Hasan Bozer, in his part, said that they wished to see motherland Turkey more involved in diplomatic struggle of the TRNC in the world. Touching on the ongoing negotiations in Cyprus, Bozer said that "talks have been going on for the past 40 years". Despite proving their aim to find a solution in Cyprus, the Turkish Cypriots still do not have their rights, Bozer underlined. It is as if we are wanted to become a prisoner at the negotiations table, Bozer stressed.
