Turkish parliament speaker: there is not enough international cooperation in counter terrorism

ANKARA (A.A) – Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek said that there was not enough international cooperation in counter terrorism, adding that PKK terrorist organization received an important amount of support from Europe. Sending condolence messages after a terrorist attack does not bring the victims back, said Cicek who spoke during his meeting with Norway's Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg in Ankara on Monday. Regarding economy, Cicek said that Turkey and Norway were the two countries which were least affected from global economic crisis, and whose economies grew during the crisis. Noting that Turkey was a reliable country to make investment, Cicek said that Turkey and Norway could jointly invest in third countries. If political relations between the countries are not good, it would become difficult to develop other relations, thus, Turkey and Norway should further develop political relations, said Cicek. Cicek said that Turkey had been suffering from terrorism, which Norway suffered last year, for more than a quarter-century, adding that unfortunately there was not sufficient international cooperation in fight against terrorism. Cicek noted that there was a pending case about shutting down Roj TV, a broadcast organ of PKK, in Copenhagen, adding that the case would be concluded soon but Roj TV was exerting efforts to broadcast in Scandinavian countries. Cicek expressed hope that Norway, a friendly country, would show required sensitivity in fight against terrorism. Also commenting on Arab Spring, Cicek said that Turkey was closely following the incidents, and added that Turkey wished democracy, human rights and desires of people would prevail soon in these countries. Meanwhile, Stoltenberg said that the relations between Turkey and Norway could be further strengthened in the areas of economic cooperation and political dialogue. Noting that Norway was impressed with Turkey's economic growth, Stoltenberg said that Turkey and Norway could pursue joint projects in energy sector, ship building, and sea products. Regarding the incidents in Syria, Stoltenberg said that Norway was concerned about the incidents, adding that they were closely following the people in Syria who demanded more democracy and human rights. Stoltenberg said that Norway appreciated the advance Turkey recorded recently in human rights and women rights.
