Turkmenistan, Afghanistan sign agreement for purchase and sale of gas through TAPI pipeline

National gas companies of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan signed an agreement for the sale of natural gas, which will be supplied from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan through "Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India" (TAPI) pipeline, a press release of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, released by the Embassy of the Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan on Wednesday said.
As the report states, the meeting of the steering committee of the "Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India" (TAPI) gas pipeline project, which includes oil and gas ministers of the four countries participating in the project was held. The work of the steering committee was also attended by the representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
According to the report, a wide range of issues concerning the implementation of this large-scale project was discussed at the meeting.
A protocol was signed on the results of the meeting. The sides in particular fixed their decision on the need to prepare founding documents in near future and registration of consortium "TAPI Ltd.", as well as on signing agreement on transaction adviser of the TAPI project.
The results of the meeting of the steering committee have demonstrated high efficiency of the negotiation process for the establishment of the legal framework necessary to begin the practical implementation of the TAPI project, the report said.
