Two Suspected Robbers Shot To Death
Jakarta, March 21 (ANTARA) - Police shot to death two suspected robbers in Cipete, Cilandak, South Jakarta, early on Thursday morning for defying orders.
"The two defied when asked to show the location of the robbery," South Jakarta chief police intelligence Adjunct Senior Commissioner Hermawan said.
He said the police caught T and D in West Jakarta on Wednesday night and later they asked the suspects to show targets of their operations.
They showed several locations and one of them is in Pancoran, South Jakarta.
When they were on the way to another location in Cipete, South Jakarta, the two tried to escape. They kept running despite warning shots.
As they continued to defy orders to surrender the police then shot them in their bodies causing them to die later.
"They died on the way to the hospital," he added.
Hermawan said the police were still searching other suspects believed to be of one group.
He said in their operations the T and D group members acted as PLN (state utility company) workers who would check electricity use.
Once they were in the targeted house they suddenly attacked the owner and collected the valuables.
"Based on investigation results the group is believed to have operated six times in South Jakarta," he said.
