Abu Dhabi, April 9, 2012 (WAM) - The UAE has won membership of board of directors of the Arab Labour Organisation (ALO) for government teams for the next session after earning confidence of delegates of the 39th Arab labour conference. Eight Arab candidates competed for the membership of the ALO's top body.
The UAE has also gained membership of the Financial Control Authority of the ALO which concluded its works in Cairo, Egypt, yesterday.
Humaid bin Demas, Assistant Undersecretary of UAE Ministry of Labour for Labour Affairs, and head of the country's delegation to the meeting, stated that the UAE's membership reflects the status and recognition the UAE holds in the Arab World.
He pointed out that UAE's nomination for the board membership which also includes governments of Jordan, Libya, Iraq and Tunisia, had been widely welcomed from heads of delegates participating in the conference. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
