UAE sends power generation supplies to Yemen

AL MUKALLA, Yemen, 13th September 2016 (WAM) - A UAE aid ship unloaded a cargo of spare parts, filters and fuel oil to run electric generators yesterday at the Port of Al Mukalla in Yemen, for use in in the coastal region of Hadramaut, which is facing repeated power outages. Provided by the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, the emergency energy assistance came as part of the UAE's efforts to address the frequent power disruptions in the area due to the deterioration of the electricity network. The head of the Emirati Relief Team in Hadramaut, Matar Al Ketbi, said that the shipment aims to maintain operations of central power generators, as well as re-furbish dilapidated power stations in the different districts of Hadramaut. Yemeni officials said that they appreciated the vital role being played by the ERC to improve the power supply in the district.
