"UN key partner for achieving sustainable development"

Manama, May 22 (BNA): Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa met UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, Amin Al-Sharqawi. The governor reviewed the governorate's community projects and initiatives implemented in partnership with government and private sector institutions and civil society organizations. He underlined keenness to careful analyze the current situation and future trends to ensure the achievement of the dimensions of sustainable development, especially in the economic and social areas. He also reviewed integrating voluntary work into the governorate's programmes and initiatives, mainly the sustainable ones, stressing the United Nations is a key partner in achieving the dimensions of sustainable development. He said cooperation with the United Nations in the field of voluntary work will contributes to the development of society. Al-Sharqawi praised the governorate's efforts in implementing the sustainable development objectives in an innovative manner, especially in introducing the youth and voluntary work in designing and implementing a number of projects of Bahraini spirit.
