Undersecretary calls on citizens to participate actively in elections

Manama, Nov. 20 (BNA): Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs at the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry, Dr. Fareed bin Yaqoob Al-Meftah, has stated that Bahrain is gearing up for the parliamentary and municipal elections later this week, which will confirm its civilisational and democratic approach spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Ever since HM the King launched the Royal Reform Project, the pace of development and modernisation in the kingdom has been accelerated in all fields, he said, stressing that the great number of candidates and the fierce competition among them is a strong proof of the Bahraini people’s keenness to support the sound royal reform project.
The undersecretary called on all the citizens to answer the call of duty and assume their religious and national responsibility through active participation and voting in the elections.
He also called on the candidates to place the national interests above anything else, and to work vigorously and sincerely for a bright future for the kingdom and its generations.
Al-Meftah was speaking during the annual ceremony to commemorate the Anniversary of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), co-organised yesterday by the "Islamic Affairs" and the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA), at the Ahmed Al-Fateh Islamic Centre.
SCIA President, Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Islamic Affairs Undersecretary, Dr. Fareed bin Yaqoob Al-Meftah, religious figures, judges, ambassadors, diplomatic corps and scores of citizens and residents were present.
Dr. Al-Meftah extended deepest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, as well as the people of Bahrain and the Arab and Islamic nations marking the Anniversary of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH)’s Birthday.
