University Of Malaysia, Pahang (UMP) Signs Treaty With German University And Mercedez Benz
KUALA LUMPUR, March 8 (Bernama) -- University of Malaysia, Pahang (UMP)
undergraduates can undergo a dual automotive engineering degree programme under
collaborations between the university and Hochschule Karlsruhe University of
Applied Science (HsKA) of Germany.
The Memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on Thursday by the two
institutions of higher learning would enable UMP students, upon completing their
degree programme to undergo a six-month training where they would get to
experience world-class quality standards of various German companies in
Malaysia.
UMP vice-chancellor Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim said the MoU with HsKA will
pave the way for undergraduates to undergo a dual automotive engineering degree
programme which will commence September this year with the first batch of 30
students.
"After completing the four-year programme, the undergraduates will receive
two degrees from UMP and HsKA. This dual award programme is based on the same
model by HsKA," he told reporters after signing the MoU.
Daing Nasir and UMP deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and International) Prof
Dr Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz signed on behalf of UMP while HsKA was represented
by it's rector Prof Dr Karl-Heinz Meisel.
At the same function, UMP signed a letter of intent with Mercedes-Benz
Malaysia Sdn Bhd in developing human capital. Mercedes Benz Malaysia was
represented by its vice-president (Finance Controlling and Administration)
Michael Cremer.
Cremer said it was important for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia to get involved with
this kind of programme in order to ensure the company received the best local
talent in automotive industry.
