Update: Qatar Prime Minister On Three-Day Visit To Malaysia

SEPANG (Malaysia), Dec 5 (Bernama) -- Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Jassim Jabr Thani who arrived here for a three-day visit to Malaysia was given an official welcome at Perdana Square, Perdana Putra in Putrajaya Monday. Sheikh Hamad who arrived at 12.05pm was formally welcomed by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak while Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and cabinet ministers were in attendance. Sheikh Hamad, also the Qatar Foreign Minister's arrival at the Bunga Raya Complex Monday at 11.30am was received by Deputy Foreign Minister Senator A. Kohilan Pillay and Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir. The Qatar Prime Minister's visit to Malaysia is upon the invitation of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak who visited Qatar on May 14. During his visit here, Sheikh Hamad met Najib for bilateral talks and witnessed the signing of a Letter of Agreement for two-way cooperation in Higher Education and Tourism. The Higher Education Ministry was represented by its minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin while Qatar's Minister of Economy and Finance, Yousef Hussain Kamal signed on behalf of Qatar. Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Dr Ng Yen Yen and Qatar Tourism Authority Chairman, Ahmed Abdulla Al-Nuaimi from Qatar also signed a similar agreement. Sheikh Hamad is also scheduled to meet Bank Negara (central bank) governor Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz. He would leave to Langkawi tonight to attend the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) exhibition tomorrow as well as visit the legendary Island, the following day. --BERNAMA
