U.S. eager to work with Turkey on Iran, deputy secretary of state says

ANKARA (A.A) - U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns said on Tuesday that they wanted to work with Turkey in several matters including Iran.
Turkey had a sound democracy and economy and it was contributing to stability of the region, Burns told AA correspondent.
Replying to a question, Burns said that the United States and Turkey were concerned about nuclear program of Iran.
The two countries have been working together in this context, he said.
Iran was unwilling to comply with international duties and this would have consequences, he said.
Burns said as U.S. President Barack Obama said, the real problem was that Iran was not eager to fulfill its tasks, and that's why the United States was eager to work with the international community.
Answering another question, Burns said that Turkey and the United States shared a strategic concern on possibility of Iran's making nuclear weapon, stating that both countries considered such development would be dangerous and it would cause instability in the region.
There could be differences in methods from time to time, but Turkey and the United States shared same strategic objective, he said.
When AA reporter quoted Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu as saying that there was a polarization in the region, Burns said everyone was concerned on this issue in the region.
Turkey was an important model for the region and that's why they attached a great importance to working with Turkey for transformation of countries in Arab world, he said.
Burns added that Turkey played a leading role in political transformation of countries such as Syria.
