US security authorities prepare for Obama's visit to Thailand on Nov 18

BANGKOK, November 12 (TNA) - US security units and diplomatic staffs called a meeting in Bangkok on Monday to prepare for the forthcoming visit to Thailand by US President Barack Obama, scheduled for November 18. The US security authorities also inspected the compound of Bangkok's Government House, where Obama will be received and have a meeting with Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and some other Thai Cabinet members. Obama will pay the official visit to Bangkok as the guest of the Thai government, aimed to further enhance and strengthen the Thai-American diplomatic relations, which have well-established for 180 years. The Unites States now attaches more importance to Southeast Asia. After his trip to Thailand, Obama will go to Myanmar and will then attend the 2012 ASEAN Summit in Cambodia. The re-elected US President will be in the region from November 17-20. (TNA)
