U.S. Supports Clean Water, Sanitation Management In RI

Medan, North Sumatra, March 21 (Antara) - The US government will support the provision of clean water in urban areas and sanitation management in Indonesia (RI), according to the US Ambassador to Indonesia, Robert Blake. "United States support for clean water in urban areas and sanitation management in Indonesia is a sign of its concern for the people of Indonesia," the US ambassador to Indonesia said during his lecture to observe the World Water Day at the North Sumatra University (USU) campus here on Thursday. On the occasion, he noted that the people in the country were in need of clean water of good quality and good sanitation. Blake added that clean water and good sanitation are inseparable, and therefore the US Government will provide 2 million people in urban areas access to clean water and sanitation for 250,000 people. "The US Government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will continue to cooperate with the Indonesia Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (IUWASH) agency in the clean water program and sanitation in urban areas," Blake said.
