US team to retrieve bodies of Thai students today
BANGKOK, Sept 1 (TNA) – US rescue team is scheduled to retrieve the bodies of Thai students, trapped in a car in the Kings River on Friday at 6 am (local time) or 8 pm in Thailand.
Thai Consulate-General Office in Los Angeles posted on its Facebook page that it was informed by Fresno Sheriff’s Office that the recovery operation will begin to retrieve the bodies of two Thai students, trapped in the car, that crashed into the Kings River at the Kings Canyon National Park in California on July 26.
The US authorities suggested families and consulate officials to travel to the crash site at 8-9 am (local time).
After the bodies are retrieved, US officials will conduct autopsy to identify the bodies at no charge. The process will take no more than 72 hours and the bodies will be moved to the Piman Thai cemetery in Los Angeles for the religious rites.
The two students of the University of South Florida went missing on July 26 and the car, they rented was reportedly plunged into the swollen Kings River. The raging torrent of water and the bad weather has delayed the recovery operation for about one month for safety concerns of the rescue team. (TNA)
