Work on Wadi Al-Sail project in September

Manama, Feb. 12 (BNA): Under the patronage of the Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the second phase of the Wadi Al-Sail Housing Project benefiting BDF affiliates, was held here today.
The commander-in-chief deputised Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Dhiyab bin Saqr Al-Nuaimi, to attend the ceremony.
Work in the 267-unit project will commence in September 2018, and continue for 15 months.
The chief of staff underlined the BDF’s keenness on providing adequate and conformable housing for its affiliates in order to ensure them the requirements of decent living so that they feel satisfied, and perform their duty with utmost determination and devotion.
He added that the BDF usually provides housing units to its servicemen according to the authentic Bahraini traditions.
The BDF offers its affiliates two types of housing services. The first is temporary and is granted to the servicemen until they own a housing unit.
In this regard, 112 flats have been distributed in Riffa, three BDF officers’ residential buildings, with 54 units each, were opened in 2001, and 350 temporary housing units have also provided in Wadi Al-Sail region.
As to the second type, it is related to ownership units provided in projects carried out in cooperation with the Housing Ministry.
In this context, the BDF affiliates benefited from the first phase of the Wadi Al-Sail project, including 774 units, which was completed in 2011, and the second phase of Zayed City Housing project, including 217 units and 98 land lots, in addition to 252 units in Hamad Town.
The BDF will continue this approach, in line with the leadership’s belief in the need to provide all requirements of decent living for the BDF servicemen, and the third phase of the Wadi Al-Sail Housing Project, including 258 units, will begin in 2019.
Assistant Chief of Staff for Supply and Catering, Rear Admiral Yussef Ahmed Malallah, Director of Supply and catering, Major-General Ali Saqr Al-Nuaimi, Military Judiciary President and Court of Cassation President, Major-General Dr. Yussef Raed Flaifal, and a number of senior BDF officers were also present.
