Works Ministry call costs slashed

Manama, Feb.9 (BNA): The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning has unified the IP Telephony System which covers all its main buildings. “The ministry has adopted a number of initiatives to reduce consumption and costs and transfer electronic data, systems and communications”, said Information Technology Director Hisham Sater. The ministry adopted the application of the IP Telephony System, via the electronic network, which goes hand in hand with its policy based on provision of best services to the Ministry’s staff. The system was applied over two phases, the first of which targeted the Ministry’s main building in Manama and the Ministry’s offices in Janabiya and was applied in 2011. The system serves over 600 employee. The second phase was completed between 2016 and 2017, through which the ministry’s main locations in Muharraq, Juffair, Tubli and Salmabad were connected to the main network in Manama. The second phase serves over 500 employees. Sater said that this step had contributed to improving services, saving external calls costs between the Ministry’s main buildings, through the activation of the IP Telephony System in the Ministry’s headquarters in Manama and other locations. This has saved 80% of call costs.
