World #Quranhour Calls On Muslims To Abide By Malaysian Government’s Directives

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), May 7 (Bernama) -- World #QuranHour 2021, themed 'Dunia Berbudi dan Penyayang’, calls on Muslims in Malaysia to abide by the government’s directives, and view them seriously as part of efforts to break the chain of the COVID-19 pandemic. Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Ahmad Marzuk Shaary, said that in line with this, World #QuranHour 2021, organised by the Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF), chose Surah Al-Mulk (Sovereignty, Dominion) which can be translated as government. “If you look at the content of Surah Al-Mulk, it is very suitable for the current situation, where the country is facing a huge test. “Not only the Malaysian government is terribly tested, but the whole world is also being tested dreadfully. It is hoped that Surah Al-Mulk can help build strength in us, families, organisations and communities,” he told reporters Thursday. The sixth installment of World #QuranHour was attended by 120 participants, including reciters and translators, and was broadcast live by main broadcaster Astro Oasis as well as Bernama TV, TV Al-Hijrah and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) TV Okey. Apart from being the best platform for Muslims to learn about the Quran in the month of Ramadan, Ahmad Marzuk said that World #QuranHour can also serve as a platform for the unification of the ummah around the world, as it was also broadcast through digital and social media. “As of Wednesday, WUIF has received confirmation of the participation of 462 million viewers, who will follow World #QuranHour 2021 through digital and social media broadcasts,” he said. For the record, last year’s installment of World #QuranHour recorded 10 million views. -- BERNAMA
