World Royal Heritage Festival To be Held In Jakarta
Jakarta, Dec 3 (Antara) - Jakarta will host the World Royal Heritage Festival at the National Monument (Monas) on December 5-8.
Delegates representing 165 Indonesian monarchs and 11 foreign monarchs will participate in the festival, Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo said here on Tuesday.
The activities will include seminars, an expo, dance performances, a royal culinary exhibition and a parade, the governor noted.
The foreign delegates will come from Japan, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Britain, Portugal, South Africa, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.
Chairman of the Association of the Royal Palace in Indonesia Prince Haryo Adipati Joyonagoro said he was grateful to the Jakarta governor for organizing the World Royal Heritage Festival.
"Our mission is to recreate our history. Before independence, several kingdoms were merged to create the Unitary State of the Indonesian Republic (NKRI). The palaces have contributed to the birth of wisdom, traditions, culture, as well as morality," he noted.
He added that understanding a nation`s identity is crucial and hoped that the festival would contribute significantly to the nation.
