BANGKOK, August 2 (TNA) - The wreckages of a charter plane that crashed in Bangkok on August 1, killing a pilot and injuring three others on board, have been retrieved from a canal on the outskirts of the capital. The charter flight of Thai Regional Airlines, carrying two passengers from Thailand's northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima Province to Suvarnabhumi International Airport, crashed into a canal located along the fringe of Minburi and Nong Chok Districts in the capital. Witnesses said the ill-fated plane was flying low before it crashed into a bridge and fell into the canal. The Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd. (Aerothai) said that the plane requested to land on a field of the Chalongkrung Housing outside the Suvarnabhumi International Airport before it lost connection. In the six-hour salvage operation, rescue team sprayed foaming agent to contain the fuel leak from the plane before retrieving the body inside the plane. Police Major General Chaiyaporn Panit-uttra, Chief of Metropolitan Police 3 told reporters that the charter plane carried two pilots and two passengers. "One pilot was killed while the rest three persons on board were injured. Two bystanders were also injured in the accident", the senior police officer reported. (TNA)
