WTCA Appoints Malaysian As Asia Pacific Member Advisory Council Chairman
KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 (Bernama) -- The World Trade Centres Association (WTCA), an international trade association with a membership of 322 trade centres worldwide, has named Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim as its Asia Pacific Member Advisory Council (Conference and Exhibitions) chairman.
The appointment is for a period of one year with the possibility of a re-appointment for the next term, Putra World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTC KL) said in a statement Thursday.
WTC KL said as chairman, Irmohizam would play an important role in steering the direction and leading discussions and relevant projects at the Asia Pacific Member Advisory Council.
Commenting on the appointment, Irmohizam said he hoped to contribute new ideas that could improve the industry’s viability and drive the country’s economic growth post-COVID-19 through the return of international conference and exhibitions to Malaysia.
The Asia Pacific Member Advisory Council is currently working with WTCA chief executive officer Scott Ferguson on the Access Asia programme to promote world trade centres and businesses across the Asia-Pacific region.
To date, there are 93 world trade centres registered with WTCA in the Asia Pacific including World Trade Centre Sydney, World Trade Centre Beijing, World Trade Centre Taipei, World Trade Centre Metro Manila and World Trade Centre Tokyo.
