Younger Generation Encouraged To Join Martial Arts - Minister

GEORGE TOWN (Malaysia), Jan 25 (Bernama) -- Minister in Prime Minister's Department Dr Koh Tsu Koon called upon the country's younger generations to participate in martial arts organisations as it could instill racial unity. He said the various types of martial arts in Malaysia could not only promote the art of self defence but foster the 1Malaysia concept among the communities. "I witnessed with my own eyes how Mahaguru (professor) (Omardin Mauju) is respected not only by silat proponents but also by martial arts practitioners of other races," he said at the 1Malaysia Warrior Night organised by the martial arts organisation PSSLM here, Tuesday night. The event was attended by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor and the organisation's Mahaguru Omardin Mauju. About 10,000 martial arts proponents from 80 non-governmental organisations took part in the event Tuesday night. -- BERNAMA
