High-Level Participation Expected In 5th UN Conference On Least Developed Countries

 
New York, February 21 (QNA) - HE High Representative of the United Nations for the least developed countries Rabab Fatima said that Fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries, which will take place in Doha in March, will see high-level participation from heads of states, governments, and parliaments, in addition to representatives from civil society, the private sector, and media outlets. In a press briefing at the UN headquarters in New York, she said that the conference will discuss points raised by the United Nations and the concerned parties, to help these countries achieve sustainable development and integrate the population, especially youth, through the use of modern technologies, in addition to discussing financing mechanisms and the role of the private sector in advancing development. The UN representative also indicated that the conference will witness the presentation of success stories and panel discussions in various fields related to the reality and prospects of these countries, especially in light of the changes the world is witnessing today, and highlighting the crises and challenges facing the least developed countries, following the COVID-19 pandemic, and the rise in prices and inflation, and how to accelerate growth, in addition to climate changes.
