Judging Committee of King Abdulaziz International Competition Listens to Recitations of 26 Contestants

Makkah, August 29, 2023, SPA -- The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, represented by the judging committee of the final qualifiers for the King Abdulaziz International Competition for the memorization, recitation, and interpretation of the Holy Qur'an, continued the listening sessions on the fourth day of the 43rd session. These sessions involved 26 contestants, with 12 reciting in the morning and 14 in the evening, at the Grand Holy Mosque in Makkah. With these additions, the total number of contestants has reached 84. The competition will resume tomorrow morning, featuring recitations from contestants representing different categories and countries.
During the morning session, the judging committee heard recitations from contestants representing countries such as Algeria, Palestine, Qatar, Senegal, Kyrgyzstan, Mali, Guinea, Central Africa, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Benin, and Guyana. In the evening, participants from Kenya, Chad, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sweden, Madagascar, Réunion, Morocco, Algeria, Djibouti, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Nepal, and Germany took the stage.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs highlighted the exceptional recitations showcased by the contestants during the final qualifiers of the competition, which covers five different categories. This event has garnered significant media attention and has received praise from leaders across the Islamic world. Since its establishment in 1979, a total of 6,616 contestants from various continents have participated in this prestigious international competition.
