Katara Revives Qatari Popular Heritage by Organizing "Haya Baya" Event

Doha, June 25 (QNA) - The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) held "Haya Baya" event at Katara beach on Sunday within its endeavors to revive the popular heritage amid a distinguished presence of children who wore the Qatari traditional dress.
Girls chanted popular songs related to this heritage before throwing their plants into the sea, as the event is considered a popular heritage in a number of GCC states where kids converge when the month of Dhul-Hijjah approaches and every kid brings the materials they like, along with an empty can in which they plant some grains of barley, wheat or lentils and hang the can in a safe location to be exposed to the air and sun light.
The kids continue to irrigate and preserve the plant as an important part of this popular practice. (QNA)
