LDC5 Embodies Qatar's Role in Development, Assistance Says QFFD Director

Doha, March 08 (QNA) - HE Director-General of Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari said that the State of Qatar's Hosting of the 5th UN Conference of the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) is an embodiment of its role and long history in development an supporting the least developed countries (LDCs).
"The role of the State of Qatar in supporting LDCs and the great efforts it has made in the field of development and humanitarian relief, is no secret to anyone," His Excellency told QNA, pointing to the referring to the great support provided by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, at the beginning of the conference, where His Highness announced the provision of USD 60 million dollars in support of LDC5, 10 million of which were for the follow-up on the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA) and 50 million for the outputs of this conference.
He explained that QFFD is the State of Qatar main tool for implementing the international development policies, highlighting that the Fund will have an important role in following up on the outcomes of LDC5, as it will carry out many projects related to poverty eradication, food security and technology.
Concluding his statement to QNA, HE the Director General of QFFD stressed that the most important output of LDC5 is the partnerships that the State of Qatar has built or strengthened, stressing the importance of benefiting from the great development experiences that gathered in the conference. (QNA)
