Baku Crystal Hall facade to display flags of Eurovision participant-countries during singers’ performances

Azerbaijan, Baku, March 14 / Trend E. Mehdiyev / The Baku Crystal Hall Sport and Concert Complex, which will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in May, will be equipped with numerous many-colored lighting effects. About 45,000 diamonds shining in different colors will be provided on the facade of the complex, Swiss company Nüssli International AG, which is partner in the complex construction project, told Trend. "The facade will also be used for the show itself. It will be even possible to display colors of flag of the country, participant of which will be announced and will go on stage. The design inside will be completed following the requirements from the EBU," the company said. The main difference of this hall from others is that this hall has from outside an appearance of the so-called 'Baku Crystal', which is the shining crystal in the night for the spectacle evening. Most of the work in the complex has been already completed. By mid-April, the Brainpool Production Company will come here to start rigging the light for the show, the video screens and the stage for the show. Building this fantastic hall in such a short time was only possible due to three independent main components which were designed, procured, produced and erected on site in parallel. These components are the Modular Stadia as the heart of the complex, followed by the inner roof and the outer facade. The 57th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Baku Crystal Hall, which is under construction near the area of the State Flag. The Baku Crystal Hall is the arena with a capacity of up to 23,000 spectators. Approximately 16,000 people will be able to attend each of the three Eurovision Song Contest live shows in May. Azerbaijan won the right to host the prestigious European song contest after the victory of Eldar Gasimov and Nigar Jamal (Ell / Nikki) at Eurovision 2011 in Dusseldorf, Germany last May. The Eurovision 2012 semi-final rounds will be held in Baku on May 22-24 and the final on May 26. Do you have any feedback? Contact our journalist at agency@trend.az
