Chinese tourism to Russia grows by 50% in 2015 - State Statistics Service

MOSCOW, September 3 /TASS/. China’s inbound tourism to Russia grew by 50% in 2015, according to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat). The Russian Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism) published the figures on its website on Thursday. The number of Chinese tourists visiting Russia has gone up from 134,800 in the first six months of 2014 to 204,400 people in the first half of 2015. Inbound tourism from China increased by 51.6 % from January to June 2015, according to Rosstat. The total number of Chinese citizens who visited Russia for various purposes has increased by 8.9% since last year to reach 547,200 people in the first half of 2015. Other Asian states are showing mounting interest in trips to Russia. According to Rosstat, inbound tourist flows from Thailand /up 44.3%; 9,840/; South Korea /up 27.3%; 44,700/ and the Philippines /up 22.1; 1,860/ have shown positive dynamics. Some non-Asian countries have also demonstrated growth in inbound tourism to Russia. They include Egypt /up 71.4 %; 2,400/; Cuba /up 26.8%, 3, 780/; Israel /up 23.2%, 50,400/; Turkey /up 17.3%; 69,000/ and Serbia /up 10%, 11,500/. Read more
