City Councils of Bishkek and Riga sign memorandum of cooperation

Bishkek, Oct. 11, 2018. /Kabar/. City Councils of Bishkek and Riga signed a memorandum of cooperation, the press service of Bishkek City Council reported. The official meeting of representatives of the two city parliaments of Bishkek and Riga was held with the participation of Chairman of the Bishkek City Council Janybek Abirov, Deputy Speaker Ruslanbek Zhakyshov, the leaders of the Bishkek City Council political factions: Ermek Usubaliev, Taalaibek Sariev, Taalaibek Sagynov, Asylbek Kadyraliev, jabara Alymova, Chairpersons of the commissions under the City Council: Adis Imangaziev, Asylbek Akylbekov, and deputy Valentina Lisnichenko. From Riga City Council - Deputy Chairman Andris Ameriks, Chairman of the City Property Committee Olegs Burovs, Deputy of Riga City Council Mikhails Kamenetsky, Deputy Director of the City Property Department of Riga City Council Rihards Rusins, the Chairman of the Board of Getlini Eco LLC and Head of Projects Department of Getlini Eco LLC Imants Stirans. Welcoming the distinguished guests, Chairman of Bishkek City Council Janybek Abirov noted that the visit of the delegation of Riga City Council is very important, as a solid foundation is laid for the start of bilateral relations. “I hope that today we will continue the dialogue between our cities on all issues of mutual interest. We have a mutual understanding of the need to intensify further cooperation. I hope that the Memorandum signed by us will have real confirmation by deeds and will become the basis for the further development of relations between the two representative bodies of the two states,” Abirov told. In turn, Deputy Chairman of Riga City Council Andris Ameriks spoke about the activities and structure of Riga City Parliament, the formation of the capital budget, the role and importance of the permanent committees of Riga Parliament. Following the meeting, the sides signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between Bishkek City Kenesh and Riga City Duma. This document is aimed at expanding contacts in the field of education, science, culture, housing and public utilities, city property, processing of solid waste, sports, tourism, health and social development. At the end of the meeting, Deputy Chairman of Riga City Council Andris Ameriks left an entry in Bishkek City Council book. “Today, we laid the foundation for further friendship between Riga and Bishkek. My desire is that we do everything possible so that this friendship strengthens every year.” It is a return visit of Riga City Council to Bishkek. In May of this year, a delegation of the City Kenesh paid an official visit to Riga.
