EMBASSY IN SINGAPORE INTRODUCES MONGOLIA TO SINGAPOREAN STUDENTS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Embassy of Mongolia in the Republic of Singapore attended ‘International Friendship Event’ to promote Mongolian history, culture and tradition to Singaporean children and youth on April 6. The International Friendship Event was organized by Tanjong Katong secondary school of Singapore.
Apart from Mongolia, events of other countries such as France, India, Egypt, South Korea and Austria took place at the International Friendship Event.
In the scope of the event, Mongolian ger or Mongolian traditional dwelling, traditional costume, games as well as traditional Mongolian script were introduced to the Singaporean students. Mongolian interlocking puzzle games that help increase children’s intelligence quotient and support their brain development, attracted students’ interest.
Tanjong Katong secondary school is considered as one of the biggest schools in Singapore, which has 48 classrooms and 1375 students. The school also leads the country with the number of international students’ enrollment.
Mongolia and Singapore established a diplomatic relation over 50 years ago. Although friendly and traditional relations in political and economic sectors have been developed over these years, people-to-people relation of the two countries and relations in cultural and humanitarian field are not active. Singaporeans are interested in learning about Mongolia. So, the main objective of Embassy of Mongolia in Singapore is to promote Mongolian rich history and culture, nomadic lifestyle and develop humanitarian relations between the two countries. It is also significant to organize such promotion events that will contribute to the knowledge of future generations.
Additionally, Singaporean students received their name written in Mongolian traditional script as a gift at the event.
