HEAVY RAIN STORM AND HAIL CAUSED CONSIDERABLE DAMAGES

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Continued heavy rain and storms on 17-20 August caused considerable damages in Arkhangai, Selenge and Uvurkhangai aimags, reported the National Emergency Management Agency. Over 200 heads of livestock owned by four families were killed due to heavy rain and hailfall in Tsetserleg soum of Arkhangai aimag on August 17 as well as 14 animals of one household were killed by hailfall in Erdenemandal soum of Arkhangai aimag. In Javkhlant uul area of Javkhlant soum of Selenge aimag 10 meter paved road was flooded on August 18, breaking some parts of the road in route Sukhbaatar –Darkhan. ‘Selenge’ company workers are repairing the road. During short hurricane occurred in Shunkhlai bag of Khujirt soum, Uvurkhangai aimag on August 18, two people aged of 13-38 were injured, fences of 47 households and 11 ghers were broken, roofs of 13 households were uncovered and windows were broken and 6 summer houses were completely destroyed. Moreover 6 KW electric transmission line was cut and 7 electric line pillars were fallen and Erdenet-Bulgan Electricity Distribution Network LLC is working to restore. It is estimated that the severe storm and hailfall caused a total damage of MNT350 million to the 41 households of Khujirt soum. B.Ooluun
