HM the Queen's commemorative banknote issued

BANGKOK, Aug 12 (TNA) -- Thai people flock commercial banks to exchange new commemorative 500-baht banknote issued on Thursday to celebrating Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 84th birthday anniversary. The Bank of Thailand issues 20 million of 500-Baht commemorative banknotes for the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty’s 7th cycle birthday anniversary on August 12. The color, size, and the image on the front side of this 500-Baht commemorative banknote are identical to the 16th series of 500-Baht banknote. The main element on the reverse side depicts the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit in Thai Boromphiman traditional costume. Other elements include the Royal family image, Her Majesty with folk arts and crafts products, the Royal Emblem, Khon performance, Lygodium products, and the flowers named after Her Majesty, which are Queen Sirikit Cattleya and Queen Sirikit Rose. The special feature for this 500-Baht commemorative banknote is located on the reverse side. The radial pattern behind the portrait of Her Majesty and Queen Sirikit Rose illuminates in yellow when viewed under ultraviolet light. The banknotes can be exchanged at commercial banks and withdraw from some designated ATMs marked with special signs. New commemorative coins minted in gold, silver and bronze for the queen’s birthday are also made available for purchase and reservation on Thursday, the Treasury Department announces. (TNA)
