BIRJAR,May 17(MNA) – A starved wolf attacked two men and two women in a village near the city of Bijar, the head of the city’s health service department said on Monday.
The wildlife attack happened in the village of Qomchaqai in the western province of Kurdistan.
Nabiollah Mahdavian told that the four injured village people went to a nearby hospital, fortunately three were released from the medical center upon receiving medical treatment but one woman had to stay in for her severe injuries.
The people of the village took the matter in their own hands and the poor wolf met his doom in that village.
A team of veterinarians were then sent off to the area to evaluate the situation and take preventive measures against incidents of that nature.
According to Mahdavian, the wolf had entered the village from the protected wildlife area in close proximity to the village.
The protected region of Bijar is a living shelter for many species of wildlife, covered in the fauna and flora. To date, 142 plant species, 23 mammal species, 128 bird species and 20 species of amphibians, reptiles and fish have been identified there.
