Malaysian Medical Student Killed In Attempt To Stop Motorbike Theft

Ahmad Fuad Yahya JAKARTA, Indonesia, Nov 8 (Bernama) -- A Malaysian medical student was killed in an attempt to prevent a man from stealing his motorcycle outside his living quarters in Malang, Jawa Timur Monday night. According to initial reports provided by the National Malaysian Student Association in Indonesia (PKMI), the victim was Adrian Jay Pereira, from Klang, Selangor who was a student of the Medical Faculty at Universiti Brawijaya, Malang. In the incident believed to have occurred about 7pm, Adrian was said to have been slashed by his assailant with a sharp weapon and died at the scene. His remains have been sent to the mortuary at Hospital Saiful Anwar, Malang. Education Malaysia (EM) (previously the Malaysian Students Department) in Indonesia is in the process of getting the official details from the Indonesian police and sending the body home to Malaysia. EM attache at the Malaysian embassy, Ludinata Misnun was on the earliest flight to Malang on Tuesday to see to the arrangements. A total of 173 Malaysian students are studying in Malang and from the number, 161 are at Universiti Brawijaya. -- BERNAMA Malaysia
