Officials of Kyrgyz Embassy in Iran visit stuck carriers

Bishkek, Mar.10, 2020. /Kabar/. Officials of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Iran visited the Sarakhs and Lutfabad checkpoints at the Iranian-Turkmen border to provide necessary consular and legal assistance and support to truck drivers, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
The Kyrgyz truck drivers are stuck in Iran. Due to coronavirus outbreak, Turkmenistan closed its border with Iran, including for transit carriers.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Kyrgyz Embassies in Tehran, Ashgabat and Baku keep this issue under their control and maintain constant communication with truck drivers - citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, temporarily staying in Iran,” the report says.
Currently, 54 Kyrgyz truck drivers are forced to stay in Iran because of measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
